3-1/4" barrel in caliber .44-40. This is referred to as a 3rd Model. It is the large frame, double action, six shot with top strap and fluted cylinder. This is the short barrel version with the fixed hammer. Other features include factory nickel finish with period ivory grips and lanyard ring. The Merwin was an interesting large frame revolver for its time, as it came with interchangeable barrels and two grip styles. This is a square butt. Very colorful and popular Western revolver features approximately 60-70% original factory nickel with the balance gun metal grey with usual age spotting. Double action works fine. Does not work single action. Strong rifled bore. Aged grips are excellent. Nice example of a mid-1880s big bore large frame revolver. This revolver comes in a VL&A period double loop holster. Great western look.
