From 1991-1993, Steiff made a series of Teddy bears holding or wearing timepieces. This particular example is the last in the series and was produced in 1993 only, in an edition size of 3,000. Pendant Bear is 17” tall, made from caramel colored mohair, and is five ways jointed. His paw pads are made from tan felt. His face is detailed with pert black button eyes and a black hand embroidered nose and mouth. He wears a silver colored pendant watch around his neck; the timepiece is in the form of Steiff’s bear head logo with a gold colored button in ear. The watch has not been tested to see if it is still working, and it also has some very light scratches on the back of the case. The bear retains all of its original IDs, including its button, ear tag, and red and yellow “split style” named chest tag. Condition: As noted. Very good to excellent condition overall. Provenance: From the collection of long-time Steiff archivist Dick Franz.
STEIFF’S PENDANT WATCH TEDDY WITH ALL IDS.
