Both halves of this two-piece steel plate armor cuirass are reinforced with brass plates. The edges have brass domed rivets along the edges. The breastplate has two drilled holes along the midline which usually held a decoration. It also has a brass hook at the navel. The bottom of the oxidized interior has an inscription that reads, "Manuf xxxx de Klingenthal xxx 1859". The back plate's metal has oxidized and torn out at the shoulders and ribs. The shoulder straps are partially intact with twin brass chains over brittle and broken leather.
