These two pieces of French plate armor make up a mismatched cuirass. The breastplate is gleaming and features brass lion heads at the shoulders, brass domed rivets, and a copper colored medallion of a woman with sword and crouching lion that is mounted on a sunburst. The bottom interior is engraved "Mre d' Armes de Chat 9bre1880 = 3eme Caille 1ere Largeur = Mle 1880". The back plate has a light patina, brass rivets and shoulder strap anchors. The only leather remaining is under the anchoring rivets. The shoulder straps have twin brass chains and latches for raised breast rivets that don't exist on this breastplate.
