Comprised of: 1) French cape with trousers and suspenders. Black wool cape with gold chain attachment, four brass buttons and a black lining. The black trousers have a five button fly, gold bullion side stripes and white attached suspenders. 2) French black wool tailcoat with stand up collar with gold bullion leafy lace on collar and cuffs, black quilted linen. Thirteen silver eagle buttons inscribed “CONTRIBUTIONS DIRECTES” (Direct Contributions). Used for taxes during French Revolution.
