6" barrel in .44 Russian caliber. The double action S&W New Model No. 3 is referred to as the Navy Model. All frames were manufactured prior to 1898. Features six shot, double action, top break, nickel plated, and black composite grips. While this revolver is all original and shows traces of original nickel finish, the gun is basically a dark brown patina with scattered salt and pepper finish. Typical attic found condition, gun has been untouched for over 100 years. Very popular cowboy revolver used during the 1880s. Far more reliable than the Colt 1878 double action of the same genre. Cylinder indexes both single and double action. Strong bore. Good legends. Nice old cowboy gun.
