6-1/2" barrel in .44 S&W Special caliber. According to the Smith & Wesson Factory letter this revolver was shipped on January 8th, 1926 to Shapleigh Hardware in St. Louis, Missouri with a 6-1/2" barrel, blued finish, and checkered walnut non-medallion grips. Letter further states that ivory grips are after-market additions (no longer on gun). Gun now sports diamond checkered walnut grips with no number. This six shot, double action was built on the square butt N frame with case colored hammer and trigger, and a lanyard loop. Matching numbers on barrel and cylinder. Strong colors on hammer and trigger. Revolver has high edge wear. Front sight blade has been tapered. Has a cylinder ring. Backstrap has silvered out and retains 60% blue on front grip strap. Balance of blue is approximately 90%. Perfect action. Strong, clean bore. Overall, a fine early .44 large bore Smith.
