Gold knob: 2-1/2" high. Yellow solid gold is adorned on top with large octagonal piece of white gold quartz facet cut around the edges like a gemstone. Rich with gold. Quartz in very fine condition with a couple of tiny chips in one spot. Eight gold egg shaped knobs frame the top of the handle, below faceted panels with a presentation "H. Cohn to A. Gump San Francisco June 21st, 1856". Alternating flat panels are engraved with a beautiful floral design. Raised engraved band is at base of knob. Very bottom edge of knob stamped with maker's mark "Braverman & Levy San Francisco". They were one of the dominant jewelers in the creating of gold quartz objects. The gold is in fine condition. Beautiful wooden shaft with all of the original finish and German silver tip reinforced on the very bottom with steel.
