Handle is a small ivory dog head with inlaid black bead eyes. Ivory shaft features carved simulated knots, each knot highlighted by a black bead. There is a long presentation on cane engraved and highlighted with red ink "Presented to Lieut. Gen. Whinfield Scott by Fred Genke Turner", "A Solider in the Mexican War", "Carver Patterson R. J.", "Down with Treason". Overall length 35". Has a steel tip. Circa Mexican War, 1800s.
