Very long and very heavy blade. Blade stamped on haft "Manufactured by W. & S. Butcher for Graveley & Wreaks New York". Overall length 16-1/4", blade length 12". Circa 1835. Blade with clip point, swedge on both sides. Black discoloration spots up and down. Very minor light pitting. German silver crossguard as well as all mounts on knife and scabbard. Red stag scales, enhanced with six rivets on each side. Name plate on left side with owner's name "W.W. Graham". Top flat of coffin pommel engraved with legend "C.J.H. to E.A.M.". Beautiful leather scabbard, probably done by a bookmaker. Gold floral borders on each side. In the center inscription "The Celebrated American Hunting Knife" in gold surrounded by ornate gold floral and leaf bookends. Throat with round frog, both tip and throat with fancy scalloped borders. 10% of red leather peeled away. Pictured in book "American Knives" by Harold Peterson on page 51 and 42.
