Overall length opened 12-3/4", blade length 5-1/2". Circa 1840. Clip point blade, swedge on both sides. Stamped by maker on haft "A. Davy's Celebrated American Hunting Knife". Four decorative cyphers stamped on blade "Alabama", "Hunting Knife" and the other two are only partially legible. Blade with 50% original polish, moderate to medium pitting on part of backside, light pitting on part of front. German silver mounts. Leaf design crossguard. Beautiful cape buffalo scales. Decorative bullseye rivets, six on each side. Decorative rectangular name plate on left. Coffin pommel, enhanced with half alligator, half horse. Lockback in good working order. Pictured in book "The Bowie Knife" by Norm Flayderman page 47.
