Royal Navy officer chapeau, 1830s-1840s. Black fur felt chapeau with black ribbon cockade, gold bullion cockade loop ending in gilt button bearing fouled anchor. Figured lace binding on the bicorne. Dark pink lining with makers label of J. W. Kench, London. Light brown leather sweatband. Sweatband needing a stitch or two. Black japanned tin carrying case with top handle and bottom latch. Shows scratches, paint lose and two areas where there were tags attached at some point. Interior is a gold color tin in excellent condition.
