Comprised of: 1) A pair of Second Republic era, French officer’s silver bullion epaulettes with fringe, each retaining its "attachment" button (with corresponding hook on the underside) at the strap end, the silvered, convex buttons bearing a rooster surrounded by the words "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE". the undersides with original black woolen lining, now faded dark brownish and with very slight moth graze. Some fringing is fraged, lace lightly tarnished and a few spots of white on strap. Fair to good. 2) Pair of French officer’s gold bullion epaulettes, mid- to late-19th century, with gold lace straps ending in gold bullion crescents with an embroidered shield within, and 3/8" diameter gold bullion fringe below; the other ends of straps finished with convex, gilt buttons with flaming bomb device encirled by rope border, with corresponding brass hooks below. Underside lined with black woolen fabric. One fringe fraying on one epaulette, while on the other, two fringe are pulled away at the crescent, but still attached to the "box construction" support underneath. Otherwise good to very good condition.
