Superior quality pair of French cavalry officer's epaulettes, each made with broad silver lace strap ending in silver bullion crescent with fine (1/16" diameter) silver bullion fringe. Opposite end of straps retain their silver, ball buttons. Underside has original lining of black velvet and fastening hooks (corresponding to buttons above) of silver, each marked: "J. D, C & Cie." Box and lid made of shaped wood veneer, taped with paper at edges. Paper label attached to box bears the following in printed text: "F.M.-J.D. et Cie PARIS/ FABRIQUE a LYON/ followed by inventory description in ink for this particular box contents: "Officier su Caserne/ Cargeul melad/ Cavalerie" Excellent condition.
