This hardwood and canvas canoe is painted green on one side and red on the other, showing a consistent large crackle effect or crazing to the finish. A professional and meticulous restoration, replicating the original paint colors and aged finish to the exterior by using the worn paint as a guideline. Marked "Kennebec" in gold on both sides and showing the typical heart-shaped deck. Advertising for Kennebec Boat & Canoe Co., active between 1909 and 1942. Having stopped production of these sample canoes in 1926, we estimate production date of this model around 1916, as larger samples were made in later years. This is one of only 60 produced.
