Two screw tip powder horns including a very nice Center County screw tip powder horn with red stained domed butt showing a turned bead at base and having a wide staple and thorn attachment method. For a nearly identical example see page 271 and 272 of "Pennsylvania Horns of the Trade" by Arthur J. DeCamp. This horn has its original beehive turned screw tip with the chased male threads on the spout of the horn and the non-tapered hole in the horn spout. Excellent condition; a few insect damage marks not penetrating through the outside wall and a few scattered marks on plug. The second screw tip horn is a small Reading-area Berks County horn with beehive collar and original tapered turned screw tip spout, large tapered dome butt with wooden knob at top. Good condition; still retains original collar and screw tip. Dark patina to body with some very dark staining in one area towards butt. Butt is missing about a 2" chip on one side. Knob also has some losses. Also includes three other horns; two of which have bulbous wooden plugs with wooden knobs, one turned and having a wooden spout. One horn has some losses to body from insect damage, the other two are very good but showing some marks from use. Also includes a bronze flask with embossed scenes of dead game on both sides and brass powder measure spout on top. One dent on bottom of left side and some separation at seam on bottom. Otherwise excellent with dark patina.
