Approximately 30,000 were re-barreled at the Carl Gustafs Factory in the beginning of 1938 with 24" barrels to make a handy rifle for the foot soldiers. This configuration was so popular, that beginning in 1941 the Husqvarna firm made an additional 60,000 in this same manner. Gun (A) is a 1914 Gustafs dated frame. Features short barrel, two barrel bands. Matching numbers on frame, four places on bolt, bolt release and buttplate. Metal on this rifle is superb and retains 95% of the blued finish that was done at time of alteration with the exception of trigger guard and floorplate which is a blue-grey blend. Stock is very good to excellent condition. Two sling swivels with original cleaning rod. Strong bore and fine action. Gun (B) is dated 1900. Features the wheel disc rear sight. Matching numbers four places on bolt, bolt release, buttplate, floorplate and both barrel bands. Most of the metal is a grey patina. Brass disc on right side. Wood is very good with normal abrasions. Sling swivels and original cleaning rod. Both of these carbines are import stamped.
