Approximately 30,000 were re-barreled at the Carl Gustuf Factory in the beginning of 1938 with 24-1/2" barrels to make a handy rifle for the foot soldiers. Barrels actually measure to 20.1" as per the book "The Swedish Mauser Rifle" page 16. After these conversions beginning of 1941, 60,000 rifles were rebuilt in the same manner. Gun (A) is a 1907 Gustuf dated frame. Features wheel disk sight, short barrel and two barrel bands. Matching numbers on barrel bands and on bolt release. No 147 is electro etched on bolt. Matching number on buttplate and floor plate. Stock not numbered. Blue on frame and barrel has thinned to a silver-blue mix. Stocks are excellent with minor dings with two sling swivels with original cleaning rod. Threaded cap is missing, strong rifled bore, strong clean bore and perfect action. Gun (B) is actually one of the Husqvarna 1942 dated short rifles with a 23-1/2" barrel. Same configuration as the altered rifles. Matching numbers on bolt, matching buttplate. No number on floor plated trigger guard. "816" stamped on rear barrel band. An import stamp on barrel. Missing stock disk on right side. Fine bore and action. Both rifles are import stamped. These are considered by many to be the finest military Mausers ever made.
