The Model 1917 was the largest produced standard WWI shoulder arm of the US forces. They were produced by Remington, Eddystone and Winchester. Winchester; being the most desirable. This is a typical World War II rebuild using some mixed manufactured parts. The stock is a replacement and does not have the "W" on the end. The barrel is a matching Winchester dated 4/18. Has a Winchester marked front barrel band bayonet lug. The bolt release is an Eddystone. Rear sight base is a Remington and the rear sight is a Winchester. Bolt is stamped with ordinance bomb, stamped "W" for Winchester on bottom and NS for nickel steel. No makers stamp on safety, the walnut stock has the proof "P" in circle on wrist. The left side of stock is stamped with the rebuild stamp O.G.B.L. Buttplate is stamped with Springfield eagle, metal still retains the WWI dark blue military finish of which 80% remains. Stock is excellent to near mint. Barrel still retains most of the original blue and barrel bands are a mix of blue-brown patina. Action is fine, strong clean rifled bore, it has an ME reading of 1.5. Extremely clean WWII rebuild with the majority of the parts being Winchester including all main components. The trigger guard and floor plate are about 70% of blue mixing with patina.
