Tatham & Brothers are manufacturers of lead pipe, sheet lead and shot. Based at 82 Beekman Street, New York. The building was one of two cast iron shot towers designed by James Bogardus for use and manufacturing lead shot. Tower was contracted in 1856 and was just over the Brooklyn bridge adjacent to the South Street Seaport. The Tatham Company was one of the largest suppliers of cast shot in the union army during the Civil War. It was destroyed in 1907. The salesman case is covered in black leather embossed with owner's name in gold. It folds open to display 26 original vials of various size shot featuring Tatham's patent finish. Sizes range from dust to triple zero. Outside case is in excellent all original condition. The display case measures 11" in length and 2-1/2" tall. It is accompanied by copies of history on the famous shot tower. The first one of these to have surfaced to our knowledge and will make an interesting addition to any shotgun or cartridge collection.
