Rare and highly coveted Riley Haskell minnow, circa 1859, with a light scale pattern coming in the smallest 3-1/2” length size (metal body only) with unique diagonal makers mark and patent date stamping. Condition is excellent with a light silver wash over copper and all of the original patina that would be expected of such an early lure. Marked with the typical "R. Haskell Painesville, O., Pat'd Sept 20, 1859" in a very different diagonal pattern on the right side of the body. Conforms in all ways to Haskell’s patent including the standard body weighting and hollow tail section which rotates about the main shaft.
