English oak case covered with brown leather, brass corner protectors, straps are absent and handle replaced. Lid has a vacant oval escutcheon and is stamped "R. LE S./HUNSTANTON HALL/NORFOLK". This came from the Le Strange family of historic Hustanton Hall and a heritage of knights. Interior with removable top tray, both levels partitioned with purple felt. The top tray holds the two sets of barrels, the bottom holds the actions and buttstocks and features two lidded accessory compartments. Lid has an original Boss & Co. label with the 73 St. James's Street, London, address with two lines struck through and label is stamped "PLEASE NOTE THE NEW ADDRESS,/13 DOVER ST., PICCADILLY", also reads "Gun, Rifle, & Breech Loader Manufacturers/TO HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, THE PRINCE OF WALES." Also, there is a faded and stained label regarding the assembly procedures. Fair condition, traces of several old labels, scattered scuffs, marks from use, and minor losses. Interior with staining and losses, bottom layer with some loose dividers. A good restoration project just waiting for a pair of spectacular Boss shotguns!
