Round smoothbore barrel with turned muzzle and patent breech. Barrel with gold maker's inscription and dated 1845. Breech engraved with branches. Flat percussion lockplate with a few sprigs of engraving. Hammer probably a period replacement. Steel furniture and buttcap with lanyard ring. Full length walnut stock with checkered wrist. Good condition; grey patina on all steel surfaces with some scattered light marks. Inscription on barrel is excellent. Hammer slightly loose and slightly darker patina. Stock good, showing areas of wear with a crack below lock from spring.
