24" Following the colossal failure of the Edison phonograph doll in the early 1890's, the Jumeau firm then produced a phonograph doll as well. This model was much more successful and encountered far fewer mechanical failures! Of course the bisque head, marked only with a "11", utilized was of much better quality than the German head that Edison had employed upon its doll. The Jumeau example featured an open mouth doll with large entrancing paperweight eyes, blue in this case, as well as a more substantial and appealing composition body (older paint restoration to the compo body). The Jumeau model had easy access to the mechanism, a metal flap upon the chest with a twist-able tab entry that even allowed a small child to interchange the bevy of various cylinders that were available. This example is in working order however the record/cylinder spins but does not play. Most likely a needle or small adjustment is needed. Appreciated and sought after by not only doll collectors but mechanical music collectors as well! Dressed in an appropriate but more recent outfit with a human hair wig, the doll is ready to display in one's collection. Overall the condition is described as above. The bisque head appears to be free of damage however upon close examination there are a couple of minute flesh colored pimples on the bisque face yet these are not objectionable or a distraction. Comes with addition items such as the original blue jewelry and interior mechanism.

Condition: (Very Good).

Item Dimensions: 24"T.
