Beautiful zinc statue depicting a Native American Indian squaw cradling a bundle of cigars in her left arm and holding tobacco leaves in her right hand. She is finely dressed in traditional clothing with a unique plume of feathers atop her headdress. At her feet is stamped "Wm Demuth & Co. 507 & 509 Broadway, New York". She is mounted on the original period wooden base with handles on either side. "Smoke Shop" is displayed on three of the four sides of the base. The statue has taken on a nice patina over time since her creation in 1865. The wooden base shows wear and signs of paint loss. This statue can be found on page 47 of Frederick Fried's book "Artists in Wood".

Condition: (Excellent).
