Circa 1650. Heavy skull forged in one piece together with the brims. Etched in the classic Pisan manner with trophies of arms, floral panels. The comb being a beautiful, highly embossed and engraved dragon across the entire top with a humanesque face. Interior shows great age with clear hammer marks and dark patina. Cheek pieces absent. Excellent condition, exterior retains a spotted light grey patina with scattered dark spots and marks from use, back brim with one small bent area separated crack. A fine example of a very rare and highly sought after parade form Beurgonet. Rarely does this form come to the market. This item is from the collection of, described by, and authenticated by Herbert G. Ratner, Jr.
