Circa 1850. Recurved Damascus steel blade with spear point tip. Cut rock crystal handle featuring horse heads on both sides of guard and on pommel, both sides of grip have scrolls and floral decoration. Rare feature is the total knuckle guard. Kanjars rarely have a D guard, normally just a hilt. Very good condition, blade retains a grey finish with some scattered brown spots. Handle has some natural crazing and one langet has been repaired. This item is from the collection of, described by, and authenticated by Herbert G. Ratner, Jr.
