Circa 1800. Extraordinarily decorative miquelet pistol mounted in silver and of extraordinary size! Octagonal steel barrel decorated with koftgari silver designs on top and around muzzle. Large miquelet lock with silver koftgari scrolls. Stock of unique form and extensively decorated with silver, bone, and mother-of-pearl inlays, including touch hole pick with gold handle mounted on right side of forend. Silver trigger guard and sideplate with loop for lanyard, gold front sight. Stock carved with relief foliage around front of trigger guard. Overall length is 22". Excellent condition, steel retains a spotted grey patina, otherwise excellent with scattered light storage marks. This item is from the collection of, described by, and authenticated by Herbert G.
