Comprising: A) Model 1850 Infantry Officer's saber with slightly curved single fuller steel blade, etched on one side with large "U.S." surrounded by scrolls and marked "JAMES P.FITCH/NEW YORK" on ricasso, other side etched with patriotic eagle holding banner engraved "E. Pluribus Unum". Cast brass hilt, guard pierced and with chiseled floral scrolls, pommel engraved en suite. Shark skin grip with braided brass wire accents. Complete with black leather scabbard with brass mounts. Very good condition, blade retains a grey patina with some darker areas, shows little wear. Brass is dark and unpolished, grip excellent with a few minor marks, scabbard very good with some crazing and losses to original finish, seam is missing some of stitching. B) Model 1840 Non Commissioned Officer's Sword with straight tapered single fullered steel blade, ricasso on one side stamped "U.S./J.H./1864" and "Made by/AMES MFG. CO./CHICOPEE/MASS." on the other. Standard Model 1840 cast brass hilt and grip, and complete with black leather scabbard with brass mounts. Excellent condition, showing little or no use. Blade with excellent markings and with all of original polish, showing no marks. Hilt and scabbard mounts retain a dark patina with little wear and a few light storage marks. Scabbard has a few minor storage scuffs.
