This is a standard model. Features: two barrel bands, rod bayonet, 1884 rear-sight, full length walnut stock. The breech block is stamped “Model 1884”. Left side of barrel proof not readable. The side-plate is stamped "US Springfield" with eagle. Butt plate is stamped "US". Rifle has both of the sling swivels intact. The inspector stamps on this rifle are excellent. The left side has the SWP 1892 Cartouche for Samuel Porter. The bottom of the wrist has the Serif proof "P" in circle. As to condition, the metal is a dark brown patina with some salt and pepper texture. Strong rifling with black powder residue. The stock is very good to excellent, but does have the usual bumps and bruises. Action is fine. Strong bore.
