Slightly curved single fuller blade featuring etched panel on one side with scrolls and patriotic eagle carrying "E PLURIBUS UNUM" banner, the other side with scrolls and large "U.S." and on ricasso "EMERSON/&/SILVER/TRENTON N.J." Standard Model 1850 cast brass hilt with pierced guard and shark skin wrapped grip with braided copper wire. Complete with black leather scabbard with brass mounts, drag replaced. Scabbard inscribed on left side of drag "Presented to-/Lieut./Benj. L. Moffett/by the members of/Co. F./1st Regiment/N.J.V." Excellent condition, blade retains nearly all of original polish with only a few grey spots on each side of etched panel. Hilt polished bright, a few light marks from use and grip excellent. Scabbard very good, some minor losses to surface and scattered light scuffs, brass polished bright with clear presentation. A very nice Civil War presentation sword!
