Manufactured 1953-54. This is referred to as a Pre-Model 26 introduced in 1950 six shot double action revolver built on square butt N target frame with five screws and ribbed and pinned barrel. Features blued finish and case colored target hammer and trigger. Trigger shoe added. A scope mount has been added to top rib. Rear sight removed. Gun shows use; cylinder has drag line, wear at muzzle, otherwise revolver retains approximately 95% original factory finish. Custom altered to fire single action only. Buehler scope mounts; we removed the Buehler mount and it appears as if the rear sight was simply removed, as no extra holes were drilled to mount the scope mount. An original Smith & Wesson rear sight could be applied, making the revolver all original, with the additional removal of the trigger shoe, a pair of original style grips, and to reconvert the action back to double. It is important to know the originality of the gun was not compromised to attach this mount. Good case colors on hammer and trigger. Comes with a pair of custom walnut target grips. Fine bore. This gun was used by world champion pistol shot Brian Moore.
