Attractive, unique and scarce sword in excellent condition and showing fine craftsmanship. Slightly curved triple fuller Spanish style steel blade. Brass stirrup hilt, guard with four piercings. Brass pommel cap with capstan, extends over spine of grip and is decorated with detailed gadrooning, corresponding with carving on grip. Gadrooned bulbous cherry grip with ferrule at front. Complete with original brown leather scabbard with brass mounts. Excellent condition, overall, blade retains much of original polish with some light freckling, minor marks from use and light sharpening marks. Hilt retains a mellow patina with a few light marks. Grip very good with one age crack on right side and a few scattered marks from use. Scabbard fits very well and leather is in excellent condition and is still pliable, Some scuffs and crazing to surface. Mounts retain a matching patina to that of the hilt. A very well made American Revolutionary War period cavalry saber that has been well cared for and remains in wonderful condition!
