Revolutionary War or earlier American made iron spontoon, head of 20 inches total. Diamond section double edged blade of about 11", blacksmith forged with integral "S"-shaped crossbar and conical socket. Complete with replaced 5 foot long haft. For a similar example of a blacksmith made spontoon with similar form, see figure 111.PA on page 219 of "Swords & Blades of the American Revolution" by George C. Neumann. Very good condition with some scattered areas of corrosion and some marks from use, dark patina overall.
