Barrel is dated "1–29". Both the receiver and barrel date match, having been built in 1929. It is obvious this rifle went through an overall program but it is not marked as such. The scant stock was added during the war and the matte finish and knurled flat sight adjustments are further evidence of World War II era re-build. Still exhibits all milled parts, metal retains vast majority of its re-applied matte finish. Stock is very good with usual dings. Still has the early finely checkered steel butt plate with trap and has no visible inspector marks. Has a fine action, a strong clean bore and comes with a later olive drab sling.
