Oil on canvas painting by Astley David Middleton Cooper (1856-1924). This painting, set in a period correct oak frame, depicts two men and a woman in a small boat afloat on a stormy sea. It is signed by the artist in the lower left hand corner: "A.D. Cooper 1891". There is a dime-sized abrasion in the sky with a mark that trails 4-1/2" down into the sea. The abrasion exhibits loss of paint and an apparent attempt to repaint the area. A lovely piece by a notable artist.
