The block is stamped "1870 US", the lock is stamped "US Springfield" with eagle and dated "1863". The hammer has the shield checkering. There is a visible but not readable cartouche on left side of walnut stock. All metal is patina. There is a severe crack repair at wrist. Overall salt and pepper texture to barrel and bands. Strong bore with black powder residue.
