Barrel breech cut to load for trapdoor measures 36-5/8”. Approximately 25,000 1863 dated percussion muskets were converted to 50 CF with addition of a liner tube and still retains three barrel bands. The US Springfield lock is dated "1863" with the standard 1863 musket rear sight. Metal is finished in the white; block is stamped "1866" with eagle head. Has the shield checkered hammer, full length walnut stock, cartouche on left side that is visible but not readable (ESA). Wood is very good with usual dings, metal is age-freckled and missing the ram road. Action is fine. Strong bore.
