Straight tapered blade, fire blued and gilt decorated panels on each side, decorated with engraved florals and arms motifs. Partial single-fullers on each side. Cast and chased gilt brass hilt, guard features a Roman wind figure surrounded by urns and gargoyles, chased with great detail, and on a stippled ground. Knuckle bow with relief florals and scrolls on both sides, and an Indian princess pommel. Mother-of-pearl grip scales wrapped with twisted copper wire. Complete with brass scabbard engraved with foliate designs and with a cast and chased frog stud. Excellent condition. Blade retains about 90% bright fire blued and gilt finishes, with some turn to patina at ricasso. The polished portion has a few areas of spotting and darker speckling. The hilt shows very little wear and retains perhaps 80% gilt finish. Grips very good with a few minor chips, and wire frayed in a few spots. Scabbard is excellent, with generous traces of gilt in protected areas. This is a very decorative, scarce, and unusual Indian princess pommel officer's sword in excellent condition. This sword shows a great amount of detail, more than on many other examples, and is in remarkable condition.
