1- This large giclee is a contemporary piece based on an 1870 painting by Albert Bierdstadt, titled "Sierra Nevada" morning. Albert Bierstadt (January 7, 1830 – February 18, 1902) was an American painter, who was born in Germany and was best known for his lavish, sweeping landscapes of the American West. Bierstadt joined several journeys of the Westward Expansion in order to paint these gorgeous scenes. Though not the first artist to record these sites, Bierstadt was the foremost painter of these scenes for the remainder of the 19th century. Actual image size is 29-1/2 x 18-1/2". Lovely serene image of a buck and two doe wading into a small mountain lake, surrounded by steep cliffs at sunset. Thomas Moran (February 12, 1837 – August 25, 1926) from Bolton, England was an American painter and print maker of the Hudson River School in New York whose work often featured the Rocky Mountains. Moran and his family lived in New York where he obtained work as an artist. He was a younger brother of the noted marine artist Edward Moran. He was an extremely talented illustrator and was hired at Scribner's Monthly magazine. Actual image size is 35-1/2 x 19-3/4". This image features a group of 1850's era armed white adventurers as they are about to encounter a lone armed Native American Indian midstream, set against magnificent rising plateaus.
