Exceptionally high quality(professional level) wool uniform and is tagged Spalding throughout. It has Chicago across the chest and piping around the sun collar. The size measures to a 42 although the tag reads 40. The black hat has a red sewn on block letter C and is stamped Spalding on the interior leather band. The uniform originates out of an untouched Chicago estate and is fresh to the market. We are currently still finding an exact match but have seen designs extremely similar. Unfortunately there are wide spread variations from uniform to uniform among the same Negro League team. We will update the website with any further information or photographic evidence. CORRECTION: This uniform came out of an old estate in Chicago with other personal items relating to baseball such as signed team sheets and a personal letter from Al Simmons, all from the thirties and forties. In our research we have come across several photos of the team wearing multiple styles in the same season. We also came across 2 team photos that show the same font with no serifs with the letter “C” dead center with piping. With the dark hat it leaves little doubt that this is a 1930’s-40’s Chicago American Giants uniform.
