Manufactured 1939. This early carbine is standard in all respects and features full round barrel, flat muzzle, shorter carbine 2 - 1/4" ramp, half magazine, blued finish, early long tang, factory bolt peep sight, pistol grip walnut stock with steel checkered shotgun buttplate, Winchester marked composite grip cap, and deluxe sling swivels. Barrel and tube retain approximately 98% original factory blue with some minor storage marks. Magazine blue is at 98% with patina cap. Nose cap retains 98% blue. 98% frame blue with two small spots of flaking on right side. Gun metal grey loading gate and 20% blue on gate retainer. Blue-brown patina on lever. Walnut stock is very good to excellent with usual minor marrs, retains the majority of its original oil finish with no added finish in checkering. Near mint bore. Comes with an old leather sling. Extremely fine, very scarce pre-war Model 71 deluxe carbine.
