Damascus steel barrel is unmarked and features multi-groove rifling. Probably Belgian. Break-action with opening lever mounted on bottom of steel forend, finely engraved with scrolls and has decorated screw heads. Back-action lockplate and hammer are both scroll engraved, en suite. One-piece varnished walnut grip with shaped checkered panels on both sides and an engraved steel grip cap and triggerguard. Very good condition overall, barrel and forend retain a light grey patina and show very little wear, rifling grooves are deep and bore is very good. Lock and furniture retain a smooth brown patina. Action is tight and functions well. Grip is very good with some light wear to checkering and a few scattered marks from use, one small chip above lockplate. This is an exceptional and unusual large caliber Howdah pinfire pistol!
