Frame was manufactured 1876 and shipped to B. Kittredge & Co., Cincinnati, Ohio. Original sold with 7-1/2" barrel and walnut stocks. There are notes in the records that this revolver was returned by the U.S. Government for refurbishing, barrel shortened to 5-1/2" and subsequent reshipment. Shipped in November 26th, 1901 to Manila. Right grip panel has inspector stamp "RAC" for Renaldo Carr, left side grip panel has a cartouche that is visible but not readable. Refurbished and shortened barrel models are referred to as Artillery Models. It is interesting to note that this gun was sent with non-"US" marked frame and two line patent address, and ended up returned under the military contract from 1901. Cylinder is 1916 and stamp "P.H.K.". Barrel is stamped 6167 "P". Frame is 30537. Trigger guard is 7962 "A". Backstrap is 34821. Back of cylinder is stamped "BPK". It is obvious this revolver went through Kittredge and onto the U.S. Military where it was altered with the 1901 changes. Exhibits the later style ejector rod head, six shot, single action, blue and case colored finish with very good to excellent one piece walnut grips that are slightly shy to metal. No U.S. stamps on frame. Frame retains approximately 50% original case colors. Front sight has been shortened. Barrel retains approximately 75% of the arsenal blue finish. Cylinder retains approximately 70%. Generous amounts of original blue on screws. Locks up tight and has a strong, clean bore. Scarce to find civilian shipped Army revolver transitioned into military revolver during the campaign in the Philippines.
