Fitted with original raised ventilated rib (listed in Serialization ledger) which is marked with Meriden Parker address and "Titanic" steel. Barrel flats and lumps are stamped with all correct markings and proofs. Number 1 case hardened frame features automatic safety and double triggers, and is engraved in typical late Parker "D" style with nicely detailed vignettes of dogs surrounded by scroll; pointing pointer on left, and standing setter on right. PARKER is on bottom of action, and a group of four snipe surrounded by scroll are on trigger plate. Blued trigger guard with scroll on bow, has SN on tang. Nicely crotch figured American walnut Parker capped pistol grip buttstock measures 13 - 7/8" over original skeleton steel buttplate. Stock features classic "D" styling with lozenge shaped drop points, point pattern checkering at grip, and a vacant silver oval on toe line. Matching splinter ejector forend has typical inset steel tip and Deeley type release. This fine gun sold in 2014 for almost $19,000.00. CONDITION: Excellent, original. Barrels retain 70 - 80% original blue, considerably thinned from normal hand wear on sides, silvered at muzzles, and along sharp edges. Action retains approximately 70% original case hardening color, vivid where protected, thinning to gray and silver from normal handling, and some light cleaning on bottom. Trigger guard retains approximately 40% original blue, considerably flaked and thinned, especially on front portion of bow. Stocks retain over 90% original finish with some areas wearing through, with a good number of light marks and scratches, with some oil rubbed in as maintenance. Checkering is lightly worn, and is somewhat dirty. Bores are excellent, shiny, with some light striations toward breech ends, which may be leading. Action is tight. Barrels are on face. Ejectors are in time. THE PARKER STORY indicates that approximately 200 16 gauge DHE's were made with 26" barrels, undoubtedly very few with ventilated rib. Included with gun is what appears to be its original leg o' mutton case, no makers mark found. Case is in fine condition. Straps and handle are intact. An unusual, great handling Parker.
