An extremely rare and superb Nimschke-engraved ultra-short octagonal-barreled Colt House pistol, or Cloverleaf. Original pearl grips. This extremely rare gun has a beautiful silver-plated frame with nearly full coverage in the classic Nimschke style, with a wolf's head spewing scrolls from its open mouth on the left side of frame. The ultra-rare short octagonal barrel retains little if any original finish but extremely crisp markings and engraving. Cylinder has considerable original darkened silver on several chambers, whereas others are a pleasing steel color. Frame retains considerable original silver, though darkened. Pearl grips have good fire and are essentially perfect with two microscopic flaws at the very top of the right grip. Hammer retains some original bluing, as does takedown rod. Serial No. 1776 is the most well known and desirable short barrel Cloverleaf known.
