Manufactured February 1917. Deep commercial Colt with blue finish and proper "blacked" hammer, safety and slide stop. Right side of slide factory marked "COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE 45" with left side having the two line commercial Colt address and the rampant Colt without surrounding circle. Features diamond pattern checkered walnut grips and blued barrel with bright polished chamber top. Accompanied by three lanyard loop equipped two tone magazines. Pistol is housed in a fitted oak case with provision for two spare magazines, eighteen .45 ACP cartridges and a nickel over brass tubular pistol cleaning kit of unknown manufacture. Superb condition with little or no indication of use. Bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling. The action is crisp and in proper order. The grips are very fine with sharp points on the checkering and no chips or material loss. The oak casing is extremely fine with fine green crushed felt interior with a slight witness mark of oil staining from the pistol residing in it. The furniture is all fine and without distress. Truly a wonderful example of a war-time Commercial Colt Government automatic.
