48 star wool bunting flag measuring 5' by 8', marked "Bull Dog Bunting" and "Dettra's Flag Products" on the heading, contained in its original box which shows wear. Accompanying the flag is a framed letter measuring 8" by 10", on "Architect Of The Capital" stationary dated December 17, 1941 addressed to "Honorable Aime J. Forand, House of Representatives Washington, D.C.", reading "My dear Congressman Forand: In compliance with your request, I am pleased to furnish you, herewith, a flag that was flown over the United States Capital December 8, 1941 when the Congress declared the existence of a state of War between the United States and the Government of Japan. Yours very truly, David Lynn Architect of the Capital". CONDITION: Very good to excellent. From the Ray Bentley collection.
