This beautiful, untouched rifle features full octagon barrel, full magazine, German silver sporting front sight, Henry type elevator rear sight, brass frame, nose cap and rifle buttplate; case colored hammer and lever, sling swivels and walnut stocks. CONDITION: The '66 rifle is in the condition that you hope to find. Barrel legends and edges are sharp. Barrel and tube have turned a rich chocolate patina with dark age spotting, but smooth. Never buffed or cleaned. The same can be said for the brass, which has 150 years of patina, beautiful smooth color, not splotchy. The nose cap screw has been completely destroyed. Frame screws are fairly straight with some minor scarring. Case colors have darkened. Wood is excellent, not proud to metal but flush with usual dings for a gun this age, but none of which are out of place or severe. Fine action. Bore is better than most with well defined lands and a little minor pitting; grooves are clean. Aside from a couple boogered screws, this rifle has an untouched look that collectors desire. The Model 1866 is the only Winchester in which production number of rifles is fewer than the carbines. A true American classic Yellow Boy. CORRECTION: Serial No. 37415.
