The helmet is circa 1850. This helmet is of classic Indian top form with fluted skull and plum holders, adjustable nasal, decorated throughout with gold and silver arabesques and sprays of foliage. The rim is decorated with four bands of Islamic calligraphy in gold. Chain mail coif of butted links. The sipar is decorated with gold and silver en suite, with scalloped rim and four decorated bosses (one dented). CONDITION: Shield retains its original patterned cotton lining with original cotton pad. The set is very fine, with both elements retaining most of their original gold and silver damascened decoration. A most attractive ensemble.
